Day 37 – Chinese tar..

Blog, Photos — By on October 27, 2012 6:52 pm

We were expecting a tough day today. 470 kilometres of pot-holed Mozambican roads. But no. The Chinese seem to have bought every conceivable mineral right here in return for building roads and airports. So to the contrary the road was rather superior to Hampshire!! When the Chinese do a job, they do it well!

We have settled in to Gorongosa National Park in a cosy group of tents. The only shock so far is that the Gorongosa Heights inside the park (supposedly a delightful area) are out of bounds because there is a rebel army of 800 foot soldiers holed up there. And we thought we needed to worry about the lions!!! J

Thank you for the photos, gives a lot of very different ambiance (..soccer.?!.).
The remark about soldiers and Lions make me think to Mike Horn, The South African adventurer who says in one of is book that the biggest danger he had encountered during his Latitude zero trip was not animals / disease / nature,..but..human!
Have a nice trip,…and hope you will not have to change too many clutch,..it’s not so fun!!
