Day Six

Blog, Photos — By on September 27, 2012 12:26 am

A slightly grizzly day began with an ascent of the Swarzberg Pass up a dirt switchback road…again no falling here.

It was a frosty 7 degrees on top but Phil organised coffee on the back of the trailer and we warmed up.

We had our second moderately serious tumble on the way down. Gregg came to rest in a rocky ditch and was grateful for his protective gear. The bike now would not look out of place in Mad Max!

Scenic plains and river gorges followed and the wildlife highlights of the day were a herd of magnificent oryx, 3 klipspringers, a large rock monitor, a troop of baboons, another large tortoise and ornithologically a pintailed whydah and a village weaver.

The day finished with a run, a few press ups and a game of ‘keepy uppy’!!

And to finish, to quote Nick “any one of these days would be my best days biking ever”

Over and out. Jim
