Day Seven

Wet weather gear on first thing. The rain was definitely coming down.

The cruiser left early with Shrek and Biggles clutch challenged bikes (and them) for the BMW garage in George. We had a 100k of offroad before we all regathered at the garage. It was wet and slippery and presented a new, but fun experience. The bikes, despite their size and weight, are remarkably agile.

Both bikes were repaired. Shreks clutch was completely finished. Biggles’ dipstick had melted, the oil in the clutch had become so hot. There were a few other running repairs. The Bok had redesigned the front spoiler during his crash. Sams handlebars had a wobble. A microswitch had gone on Stelios’s. Etna needed a 10k service.

So we had a coffee in a local mall and then waited things out at the garage whilst we mused over tyre options, clutch settings and suspensions bottoming out on Mozambique roads. Finally Donovan at the garage cleared us to go and we biked the 7 hills offroad to Knysna.

We dined in the evening at the Bell Inn with a fine pint of ale and for some of us fish and chips. J

Coffee in a local mall? Thought you were in the real Africa! Sounds like you are all enjoying the trip and overcoming the various challenges. Loving Sam’s photos.
