Day Fourteen – Man Down

Blog — By on October 5, 2012 8:58 pm

I came around the corner and there were two bikes on their sides hard against the bank.

Tim had overcooked a bend and slid with the bike whilst Sam, just behind, took evasive action and finished up sideways too.

No damage other than a couple of bent handlebars. Tim then led the field for the next 50km at an undiminished pace….clearly a hard man hidden in there!

It was a monumental day today, just shy of 400km (almost the length of England) and mostly on dirt road.

The countryside is wild, there are no people or cars just mountains, gorges and endless plains.

We finished climbing up to 2600metres on a little used rutted track with sheer sides.

Concentration was required to the end.

We are all tired but feeling a sense of accomplishment. J
