D34 – Pelicans and Flamingos

Blog — By on October 25, 2012 7:08 pm

Food is in abundance for the sea birds so unlike the Med where birds now are as rare as hens teeth here it is teeming with a whole variety of different seabirds….flamingos, pelicans, curlews, sandpipers, stints, various plovers, egrets, ibis and storks. On an afternoon drive around a part of the island we came across the Madagascan Beeeater (quite rare) and a crocodile.

The water is 27 degrees!! The sun was shining. Fortunately the sand is white so it is not too hot to walk on. It is a very idyllic spot. J
